Odorous gases are released during the production in many industries cause problems in the
facilities and nearby residential areas. Major activities that cause odor problem are, leather,
brewery, yeast industries, poultry farming, waste water treatment facilities and rendering
facilities. Commonly used methods for odor removal are scrubbing with solutions containing
chemicals, adsorption, and ozonation. The removal of volatile organic compounds in odorant
gasses with ozonation was investigated in this study. Concurrent gas samples were collected from
the inlet and outlet of the reactor to characterize the volatile organic compounds in odorant gasses
and to measure the odor levels. Gas samples were analyzed using an olfactometer to determine
the odor concentrations and also using a Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) to
determine the volatile organic compounds.
